Day 12: Judges 11 – The Unnamed Daughter

Building a Bond with God

Let me start this section of by saying that to be a single woman/person at this very moment, is indeed a precious and beautiful season of opportunity, given by God to develop your friendship with him. Who else but a single person has been indeed blessed with all the time to do exactly that, to develop a deep close friendship with God. As a single person you get to have these one on one conversations at a whole other level and even with beautiful humor and honesty.

I remember calling my older sister one evening and we were discussing what we believed God had planned for our lives and family. As we were talking, she relayed to me of having gone through an unpleasant ordeal during the earlier hours of the morning, having woken up to her apartment being flooded from the heavy rain they had been experiencing for the past few days.

She said, after spending so much time trying to mop and clean every part of her house, she sat down on one of her dining table chairs, looking at the soiled muddy floor and she simply told God, “Father, I know you said you were going to overflow my family and I with blessings but I wasn’t expecting this kind of overflowing”. My dear friends where ever you are, what ever you’re doing, what ever situation you’re in, I am sure it pleases God when you are frankly honest with Him.

Your friendship with God is a close as you want it to be and the more time you spend conversing with him, the more naturally it becomes with how you speak to Him as a friend. The depth of how much you trust a friend, reflects how much you have invested into your friendship. And as you spend more time with God, the more you are able to trust him in obedience, not from fear or obligation but simply wanting to remain in His love, in His friendship.

So to all the single unnamed daughter’s, as you sit in the quietness of your home or room, instead of trying to fill the emptiness that is most evident with every possible noise making gadget you have, why not simply be just as you are, thanking him for this beautiful opportunity he has given you.

Rest in Him, Be Beautiful in Him, Be Creative in Him and as you passionately spend more time in getting to know Him, you will begin to desire, to passionately draw closer to God, protectively guarding those times set apart to simply enjoy being in his presence.

Remember, as it says in James 4:8, “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.” (The Woman’s Study Bible NKJV)

God Bless.
